Minor theater is a New York City company putting on plays written and directed by Julia Jarcho, sometimes with songs. The artists are downtown veterans including Jenny Seastone (NY Innovative Theatre Award, 2014), Ben Williams (Elevator Repair Service), and costume designer Ásta Bennie Hostetter. With dark humor and goofball precision, we camp out on the underbelly of pop culture. We tell the stories that don’t fit into the stories. We are champions of weird desire.

2013 OBIE Award for Best New American Play – Grimly Handsome

Minor theater shows have been supported by the MAP Fund (to 13P for American Treasure) and the Manhattan Community Arts Fund, a program of the Lower Manhattan Cultural Council (Grimly Handsome and Nomads). Julia Jarcho won a 2014 Doris Duke Impact Award for “artists who have influenced and are helping to move forward the field” of theater.
